No Shirah On Scary Days?

The gemara says that we don't say הלל on Rosh Hashana because ספרי חיים וספרי מתים פתוחים לפניו  - so by golly, why do we say שיר של יום - that is also a type of שירה and we shouldn't say it either because of our fear??
