Galus Of Modern Civilization

When Kayin killed Hevel his punishment was that he should wander i.e. that he should have no place.

When one kills accidentally he also has no place. So the Torah gives him a place i.e. the עיר מקלט.

The punishment of Galus for the Jewish people is that we should be expelled from א"י and have no place. Even in Galus we will have no rest -  וּבַגּוֹיִם הָהֵם לֹא תַרְגִּיעַ וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה מָנוֹחַ לְכַף־רַגְלֶךָ וְנָתַן יְהוָה לְךָ שָׁם לֵב רַגָּז וְכִלְיוֹן עֵינַיִם וְדַאֲבוֹן נָפֶשׁ [Devarim 28-65]. [עפ"י תורת מו"ר זצ"ל]

Modern man doesn't stop going places. Only some poor people stay home b/c they simply can't afford to go anywhere. Everyone else is always on the move. Go to any airport in the world and see the lines. Look at the traffic on the roads everywhere. בין הזמנים - people feel that they HAVE to go somewhere. So it is worth hourssssss in a hot stuffy car [or uncomfortable airplane seat where no matter how tired you are and how much you want to you can't lie down] just to go somewhere where you are not. Are our homes so miserable that we always have to go somewhere else??

Our entire civilization in in Galus. [עי' מכתב מאליהו ד' מעמוד 169].

This of course relates to the smartphone/cellphone pandemic where people just cannot be present anywhere. They must always be connected to the whole world.

Geulah is being completely present in your place where you are supposed to be. [For the Jews לעתיד לבוא that of course is א"י]. What you always need most you have wherever you are - Hashem and your soul.
