There are pictures circulating of a well known Rav from א"י in the Alps - sitting and learning and talking to people. On one hand - we must not be מוציא לע"ז on Gedolim. There have been numerous Gedolei Yisroel [and countless Yirei Shomayim] who vacationed in חו"ל. There are definitely היתרים.
What I find odd is how מחמיר people are on minhagim [such as a certain לבוש, certain ways of saying words, or behaviors based on various שיטות יחיד] but an open Halacha in the יד החזקה [Melachim 5-9] that says אסור לצאת מארץ ישראל has almost ceased to exist. How many people do you know who are מקפיד not to leave א"י??
It is a good הקפדה to have.
The amount of Israelis who travel to חו"ל every year is simply astounding.
