Why does the Torah say that in the first year of marriage one may not go out to war?
Because he already has a war at home...
The first year is not always easy. Expectations are dashed, surprises abound and we learn a LOT of new things about ourselves and the other person. In general, dramatic changes are often hard to adjust to.
