Rav Soloveitchik produced many, many wonderful talmidim. But none of his caliber.
Rav Hutner produced many, many, wonderful talmidim. But none of his caliber.
Rav Aharon Kotler produced many, many wonderful talmidim. But none of his caliber.
Find me talmidim of the above mentioned luminaries who are saying shiurim on the level of Shiurim Li-Zecher Avi Mori, Pachad Yitzchak or Mishnas Rebbe Aharon.
This is not meant to impinge on the greatness or scholarship of contemporary rabbonim. They ALL deserve tremendous respect and reverence, each according to their own level of accomplishment. But it is a clarion call never to forget the teachings of those no longer here who don't have website or on line shiurim to which we can listen. This applies of course to earlier greats such as the Noda Bi-Yehuda, the Shaagas Aryeh etc. etc. etc. So many super-super-superstars from whom we can derive so much insight and wisdom. Yet all too often, their books just gather dust....
Can anybody out there send me an email declaring that they will - bli neder - learn the Shaagas Aryeh [or any other sefer of yore] cover to cover???
