Rav Shach On Rav Kook

Someone once asked Rav Shach ztz"l if he should relate to Rav Kook ztz"l with respect.

"Of course", said Rav Shach, "He was a gaon olam!"

"Yes, but he made a mistake in hashkafa and veered from the path of gedolei yisrael?"

"The world ["oilam"] makes two mistakes", explained Rav Shach. "One mistake is that great people can't make mistakes. The other mistake is that after the great person makes a mistake he ceases to be a great person..."
