More On Voting For The WZO

I just heard a talk given in Lakewood about the WZO elections.

He addressed the question we recently brought up, namely, what is the difference between this and being in the Knesset which was encouraged by almost all Gedolei Yisroel. But alas, right before he explained, there was silence and then he was saying something completely different. Meaning - it was edited out. [The speaker is actually a litvishe dressed, articulate, American accented, Satmar aficionado. So he holds that one may not be in the Knesset either - against Rav Aharon Kotler, Rav Schach (whom he enthusiastically quoted) and almost eveyone else].

He also compared this to keeping Shabbos. Just as it is simple we keep Shabbos, so too that we don't partake in these elections.

Oh.

Tell that to Rav Chaim Kniyevsky and all of the other Rabbonim Gedolim [and not so Gedolim but each one chashuv] who said that one should/MUST vote.

Again - my personal opinion is בטל ומבוטל. But as a matter of understanding Hashkafas Torah - it is worth understanding.
