What Keeps The Rosh Yeshiva Awake?

I saw an interview with a Lefty Rosh Yeshiva of a well known Hesder Yeshiva. He said that he can't sleep at night because he is troubled by .... Now this can go in a lot of directions. There are many troubling things in this imperfect-on-its-way-to-perfection-world.

So what troubles him???

The suffering of the Arabs in Azza.

I admire his moral sensitivity.

But ....

Here is what apparently doesn't keep him up at night: The plight of the hostages living as we speak in Gehenom on earth. The thousands and thousands of widows, orphans and family members of soldiers killed in this war. The hundreds of soldiers who were critically wounded and suffer every second of every day. The millions of Jews who don't keep Shabbos, who are בועל נידות [a חיוב כרת], who don't daven three times a day, who are ignorant of basic Jewish texts etc. etc. Lost bereft souls. All of the Jews who don't have money to make Pesach or finish the month with money. All of the Jews with cancer and other terrible illnesses. All of the older singles who are tortured each day that passes as they are alone.

If one wants to have a universal focus, one could also be troubled by the tens of millions who live in abject poverty, without running water or sufficient food and medical care. The countless millions who have serious physical illnesses. The tens and tens of millions who suffer from mental illness [which is often worse than anything physical]. The divorced, widowed, abused etc. etc. The list goes on and on ... and on.

Or - a higher madreiga: צער השכינה.

So why is his concern specifically on our enemies who quite openly want to kill us???

Asking for a friend.

Mussar Haskel:  "כל שנעשה רחמן על האכזרים, לסוף נעשה אכזר על רחמנים" .

Mussar Haskel 2: Sleep easy at night. Hashem runs the world and הכל לטובה. Daven, do everything you can to make the world a better place and then "Let go and let G-d".
