I was in a certain shul on Shabbos that had a "scholar in residence". He was not a Rav, not a Talmid Chochom but a .... journalist. He gave numerous "drashos" over Shabbos.
It was so sad for me that people are so disinterested in Torah that they instead pay a lot of money to bring someone in to talk about politics.
Torah is sweeter than honey מתוקה מדבש ונופת צופים, while politics is by all accounts not. I await a world where people anxiously await Shabbos all week so that they can delve into the sweetness of Torah.
