Link [Long But Worth It] - May One Argue With Gedolim And His Rebbi - Are the Present Day Conversions In Certain Batei Din In Israel Bogus??

Here is a fascinating teshuva about the authority of the Gedolei Ha-dor.

Since it is over 16,000 words and we are all living in the "twitter-generation" where you have to say it in 280 characters or less and preferably with a picture, I don't expect people to read the whole thing [but if you did, then PLEASE TELL ME and you will get the "Mevakesh of the Month" award which gets you a Shabbos invitation at my home and my everlasting respect for you - act now before the offer runs out!!]

I will just point out that towards the end is especially interesting where the author Shlita and Rav Nevenzahl Shlita "go at it" bimilchamta shel Torah, about the present day conversions in Medinas Yisrael.

Also, Rav Ariel Shlita at the very end says that one may not argue a Halacha with his Rebbi while the author quoted the Terumas Hadeshen and others that one SHOULD argue with his Rebbi if he disagrees.

The lesson that clearly emerges from the vast amount of sources cited is that we don't believe in "Papal infallibility". We have no Popes and everyone can be mistaken [see Maseches Horiyos]. The Gedolim are at the top of the totem pole but anyone is allowed to ask questions - WITH GREAT RESPECT, AWE AND REVERENCE - on their rulings.

[Of course this has nothing to do with the contemporary practice of housewives and others with no training in Halacha who write blogs and articles arguing with all of the Rabbonim with no other source other than the "way they feel" and attitudes culled in a great part from CNN and the NY Times. Emotions are for ones psychologists office but have no place in deciding Halacha if ignorant of the sources.]

Torah is Dvar Hashem and Toras Emes and intellectual honesty requires us to search for that emes.
