Infantile

Whenever a sports personality dies, his friends and former teammates are interviewed and they tell of his greatness as an athlete, a family man and a person etc. etc.

That could or could not all be true. But they don't mention one thing which is very significant for those of us still in the Land of the Living. Namely, that his entire life revolved around the movement of a ball. Often, first as a player, then as a coach, team executive or announcer.  He could never separate himself from that ball. It is actually often used as praise "He loved the game".

Pathetic. Lived for a game.

So let us not be sucked into this infantile aspect of our culture. Babies and little children are fixated on games. Mature adults are supposed to grow out of that.

Thank you.
