LAKEWOOD NJ - Local Sofer Stam R' Moishe Bayer was reportedly welcomed home Tuesday by his wife, Sara'le, who proudly announced that she had earned $484.50 that afternoon by successfully returning items to Target.
According to sources, the earnings were generated after Sara'le spent two hours driving to Target, standing in the customer service line, and returning a decorative throw pillow, a scented Havdala candle, and three dresses she had purchased four days earlier for an upcoming simcha.
"I made almost $500 today!" Sara'le told her husband as he walked in after Mincha/Maariv. "It was a lot of work, but a pretty solid payday, Baruch Hashem, right? You're not the only breadwinner around here, haha."
Moishe, who had spent the day writing Mezuzos for 9 hours to earn an actual parnassah, sat in quiet contemplation as he digested the financial windfall.
"So… we are down $25 and two hours of gas?" Moishe asked carefully.
"No, silly," Sara'le clarified. "We basically got a free $484. If you think about it, I'm practically funding our Yom Tov expenses!"
At publishing time, Sara'le had informed her husband that she had used the proceeds to help cover the cost of a $300 set of Linen & Towel bedding for the guest room.
