Is that title really me talking?? Or is it an alien who has forcibly taken my computer from me??

But I will agree with him [it?] partially. You shouldn't learn in Yeshiva b/c in Yeshiva they don't learn Masechtos Rosh Hashana and Yoma in depth. It is not part of the classic cycle. Why not? A different story... However - there are 10,000 other reasons that you SHOULD learn in Yeshiva and those are stronger and overwhelmingly outweigh the reason not to.
So if you can - shteig away in Yeshiva and learn RH and Yoma bein hasdarim and bein hazmanim.
But if you are not in Yeshiva, then by ALL MEANS - pounce [in the spiritual sense] on these two books which will make your Yomim Noraim a completely different experience!!! SO MANY TREASURES!!!!
Or at least listen to some shiurim. [We have many BS"D - but so do other MUCH BETTER PEOPLE so better listen to them].
