Too Busy

A letter in this weeks Mishpacha asked what is Jewish about the Jewish State and spouted the standard Satmar hashkafa עיי"ש. I am surprised that it was printed.

I have two answers to this misguided Yid:

1] Open up a Chumash. Then you will see that England where you live is not mentioned once while one of the primary, central themes of Tanach is Eretz Yisrael. The Torah is clear that this is the ONLY Land chosen by Hashem as the home of the Jewish people. Is that not enough to make Eretz Yisrael Jewish?

2] The Klausenberger Rebbe was once criticized for not speaking out against things going on here. He replied [tongue in cheek] that even if דיבת הארץ [speaking negatively of the Land] is a mitzva - he is already busy with the mitzva of BUILDING UP the Land [as with the Laniado Hospital and Kiryat Tzanz in Netanya]. The rule is עוסק במצוה פטור מן המצוה. I wish all of those people who have nothing better to do than speak against Eretz Yisrael would get busy with other mitzvos so they would have no time for the great "mitzva" of speaking disparagingly about the Land and its inhabitants [while recognizing that of course much needs to be improved].

Limmud zchus: He is just parroting what he was taught.
