Bank On It

The way many people live their lives in this country is that they withdraw more money from the bank than they deposit. They earn 1500 dollars a month and spend 2000. Sometimes it is because they have no choice [basic expenses exceed salary] and sometimes it is plain carelessness.

A wise and responsible person attempts to deposit more money than he withdraws.

That is the world of finance. Now to real life:-).

In relationships, there is also a concept of withdrawls and deposits. Take a couple. He criticizes his wife. Withdrawl. He raises his voice. Another withdrawl. He forgets to pick up the clothing at the cleaners. Another withdrawl. He buys her 12 red roses and writes a poem ["Roses are red, violets are blue, oh-boy oh-boy, do I love you"]. Deposit. He tells her that the dinner she prepared rivals that of the greatest chef in Paris. Deposit. He asks her to do something he knows that she doesn't want to do. Withdrawl. When she does it anyway he expresses heartfelt appreciation. Deposit.

You get the picture. The same applies to children and parents and all relationships for that matter. We must try to always makes more deposits than withdrawls. Otherwise, the life and vitality will be sucked out of the relationship.
