Go To Sleep

There is a very successful psychologist in the religious community who used to bring all of his difficult cases to Rav Genechovski ztz"l for his help. Rav Genechovski always seemeed to find solutions and it seemed like ruach hakodesh. One time there was a boy who was plagued by thoughts of heresy. The Rav said that he doesn't really have doubts but he is just not busy enough and these thoughts gave him something to do.

He told the psychologist to tell the boy to go to sleep every time he has such a thought. The boy loved this easy and pleasant solution. On the first day he went to sleep at 11:30 in the morning when a thought came into his mind. The next day at 5:30 pm he went to sleep. This happened a few times until the boy was sick and tired [or not tired] of sleeping so much. Suddenly, the thoughts stopped.

Rav Genechovski understood that if a person is properly motivated he can control his thoughts.
