As is well known, Rav Kahaneman ztz"l the RY of Yeshivas Ponovitch, insisted that the Israeli flag be flown on the roof on Yom Ha-atzmaut [and it still does]. One year a student climbed up to the roof and ripped it down. He was expelled from the Yeshiva.
Rav Kahaneman explained that the right thing to do is to make sure that the Israeli flag is placed on the roof. But it is also right that a student should tear it down. And this student must be expelled from the Yeshiva....
