They recently had a gathering on the Upper West Side [so many dogs there!!!!] for people who call themselves שמאל אמוני - The religious Left [literally "believing Left"].
It is significant where this took place. Which shul would agree to host such a meeting?? The Vorhand Shteible? The Jewish Center? Lincoln Square Synagogue?? All of the aforementioned are Orthodox shuls [with a broad definition of the contemporary (non-Torah) term "Orthodox"]. Of course not. What Orthodox shul would allow for such a gathering on their premises? None. So where did this gathering of love, solidarity and concern for Amalek's best friend and greatest emulator take place? A Reform prayer building. [Temple? We have just one we are waiting for in Jerusalem]. Because there is literally no source in the Torah that our concern is for the "humanity" [big word over there] of our enemies. People who are either past, present or future murderers of the Jewish people or at least supporters or collaborators of the most barbaric, primitive murderers on the planet. The pasuk DOES say [Tehillim 8-37] "ארדוף אויבי ואשיגם ולא אשוב עד כלותם".
If one IS so concerned with the well being of the enemy, still, shouldn't one's FIRST and PRIMARY concern be for one own's life and that of his people.
I heard from a Lefty Rav in Israel that he found a small number of moderate Muslims and met with them in order to find some common ground. He said that it turned out that there was none. They were just interested in knowing if he accepts Mohammed as his prophet. It is beyond pashut to them that Mohammed is the true Prophet to the extent that they actually expect an Orthodox Rabbi to accept him as his prophet.
The יסוד הדברים is that in order to know what the correct approach to the Arabs is to understand their head. The mistake countless people make is that they assume that Arabs think like Westerners. That is a FATAL mistake. [This idea of getting into other people's heads and way of thinking is a key in interpersonal relationships and billions have stumbled in this area, mistakenly projecting their thought processes on others. I myself made this mistake countless times. Now I know the truth. There is literally only one person in the world who thinks exactly like me and he wears my shoes daily....].
It is worthwhile listening to Dr. Mordechai Kedar. He speaks their language and understands their head. It is however much more worthwhile to learn Gemara, Rashi and Tosfos or a Chasidishe sefer or anything else.
To be מלמד זכות on the "שמאל אמוני", I will say that they are not evil, have good intentions [כלב is an acronym for כולו לב] and are just HOPELESSLY naive. If the massacre of Simchas Torah against a crowd of the most secular and left wing Israeli's didn't change their mind - what will?
PS - Full disclosure: I am a lefty. Nafka minah? I write with my left hand and put Tefillin on my right arm.
