I saw a video clip entitled "There is no such thing as a Bad Jew" featuring a popular prominent rabbi.
The reality is that there IS such a thing as a "Bad Jew". There are LOTS of them...
There is a Jew who went to Shmad [i.e. converting to Christianity] and his life's work is to bring as many people with him to Shmad as he can. He is a Bad Jew. REALLY bad.
I know a Jew who refuses to give his wife a Get. She suffers every moment b/c of him. He is a Bad Jew.
A Jew who does Aveiros on purpose knowing that they are Aveiros is a Bad Jew.
Frankly, at times I am also a Bad Jew. Like when I get angry or waste time.
This is a dangerous idea. No wrong in the world. All Jews are by definition "good". Not so. Halevai but not yet.
So it is more correct to say that there is no Jew who must remain a Bad Jew. There is hope for every Jew [and for that matter - every human being]. That is b/c we can do Teshuva. At THIS MOMENT!! Right now I might be doing the wrong thing but I can fix that.
So let us be realistic. There is a lot of evil in the world - even in our Jewish world. Our job and mandate is to fix it.
We can and we must.
