Everyone Can Be A Gadol

The Rambam says in Hilchos Talmud Torah [1/9] says that among the gedolei yisrael were wood choppers and water carriers and some were even blind but they nevertheless learned day and night and are those who are part of the chain of transmission from Moshe Rabbeinu.

It is said in the name of R' Chaim Halevi Soloveitchik ztz"l  that the Rambam is teaching us something sublime. A wood chopper and water carrier are involved in מלאכות בזויות - degrading labors and are thus disqualified from being a king. A blind man is disqualified from being on the Sanhedrin. Despite this all of these people can be gedolei yisrael and part of the chain of transmission.
