Very interesting shiur about Daas Torah. At about the 26 minute point he says that if a Rav has a krum [crooked] view of Yom Haatzmaut he can't pasken anything because he doesn't think straight [not his exact words]. This is difficult to swallow. That means that in YU they shouldn't learn: Chiddushei Rav Chaim Halevi Al HaRambam, Kovetz Shiurim [Rav Elchonon Wasserman], Kehillos Yaakov [the Steipler] and COUNTLESS OTHER SEFARIM where the author has a very different hashkafos than YU on many issues [such as Yom Haatzmaut]. If their thinking is twisted, then why should we learn their Torah??
[Note: This writer in NOT of the belief that a Rav who doesn't celebrate Yom Ha-atzmaut is krum in any way. I am just asking לשיטתו. I think that we should learn from the sefarim of all Talmidei Chachomim, even if they have different hashkafos than we do, as do many great people].
