הִנֵּה־זֶ֣ה הָיָ֔ה עֲוֺ֖ן סְדֹ֣ם אֲחוֹתֵ֑ךְ גָּא֨וֹן שִׂבְעַת־לֶ֜חֶם וְשַׁלְוַ֣ת הַשְׁקֵ֗ט הָ֤יָה לָהּ֙ וְלִבְנוֹתֶ֔יהָ וְיַד־עָנִ֥י וְאֶבְי֖וֹן לֹ֥א הֶחֱזִֽיקָה׃
Only this was the sin of your sister Sodom: arrogance! She and her daughters had plenty of bread and untroubled tranquillity; yet she did not support the poor and the needy. [Yechezkel 49-16]
Note: Giving Tzedaka is NOT one of the 7 mitzvos a Goy must fulfill. Yet, stinginess of Tzedaka giving is the reason it was overturned and destroyed.
We Jews are OBLIGATED to give Tzedaka!
There is enough money among the Jewish people that none of us should be poor. We have so many billionaires and hundreds or tens of millionaires not to mention regular ol' millionaires.
So why are there so many among us who don't have money to pay for basic needs???? There are even families where some are super-duper-never-have-to-work-again-rich and in the same family people who lack so much.
Answer: WE are the answer. The more we give - the more we fix the problem.
