Hat Or No Hat?

Says the Mishna Brura [183/ 11]:

ירא שמים לא יברך במצנפת [כיפה] רק ישים הכובע על ראשו, ויש נוהגין ג"כ להתעטף בבגד עליון דכל זה בכלל עיטוף וכו' וכן נהגו כהיום  בישראל בעת ברכת המזון שמשימין כובע על ראשיהן אפילו כשהוא מברך ביחיד בלא כוס. 

Those who fear Hashem should not bentch with a mere kippah on his head but rather should put a hat on. Some have the custom to wear a jacket as well because both are included in the obligation [of the gemara] to "wrap" oneself for bentching. And so is the custom today among the Jewish people to wear a hat for bentching even when bentching alone without a cup of wine.
