According to Yad Vashem, there were 28,217 righteous gentiles during World War Two who saved Jews. An AMAZING number!! מי כעמך אומות העולם!!! People who endangered themselves to protect the Jews. We always talk of the bad guys and often forget the good guys. Not just "good guys" but heroes.
But there were actually a LOT MORE!!
16.1 MILLION [!!!!!] American soldiers served in World War 2. Approximately 407,316 soldiers gave up their lives to stop the Nazis who planned a THOUSAND YEAR empire. [World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history. An estimated total of 70–85 million deaths were caused by the conflict, representing about 3% of the estimated global population of 2.3 billion in 1940. Deaths directly caused by the war (including military and civilian fatalities) are estimated at 50–56 million, with an additional estimated 19–28 million deaths from war-related disease and famine. Civilian deaths totaled 50–55 million. Military deaths from all causes totaled 21–25 million, including deaths in captivity of about 5 million prisoners of war. More than half of the total number of casualties are accounted for by the dead of the Republic of China and of the Soviet Union]. Add to that all of America's allies and you get a much greater number. They all fought like incredibly brave lions in order to stop the Nazi machine from taking over the world. OF COURSE it is all יד השם but that doesn't mean that we should forget His messengers.
