Hi there,
Judaism is far from a cult; it is the bedrock of Western values as we know them today. It has provided the world with its most influential literature and offers a lifestyle that is profoundly enriching—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. As a rabbi, I can personally attest that our faith is rooted in intellectual depth, not blind obedience. This is evidenced by the countless Orthodox Jews who serve as leading doctors, scientists, and CEOs and many other fields [excluding the priesthood:-)].
While every community has individuals who have had negative experiences or who act poorly, those instances are outliers. To focus exclusively on 'horror stories'—which represent a minute percentage of our community—creates a false and damaging narrative. For the vast majority of us, Judaism does not feel restrictive; rather, it enhances every area of our lives. I would be happy to discuss this further with you if you would like.
Please stop featuring guests who defame and slander our community.
Thank you.
