The gemara [Yoma 29a] says הרהורי עבירה קשים מעבירה - the thoughts about sin are worse than the actual sin!!!
How does that square with the gemara that says that we are not punished for the thoughts of sin - only for the action of sin [Kiddushin 40]? If the thought is worse then why aren't we punished?
See the sefer מעשה חושב of my beloved friend HaRav HaGaon R' Shlomo Einhorn Shlita [from page 90] where he offers 14 resolutions. This wonderful sefer focuses on what we have been discussing recently - the power of thought!:-)
