When people "fall in love" they are not generally really in love with each other. They are in love with their mistaken idea of who the other person is. A idea is built up in one's mind and he or she falls in love with the idea which is personified by a certain human being.
True love is to really love the other person for who he or she is. That takes much more. It means that you have to get to know the other person and embrace their entire persona which includes in addition to their positive qualities, all of their faults, failings and inadequacies.
If you have been married then you probably went therough these two stages. First you were in love with your fantasy of who this person isn't. And then you learned to love the real person....
