There is also legal abuse, albeit subtle.

When someone screams at a spouse or child out of instinctive anger - THAT is [generally] abusive. The only way it is morally [and halachically] justified to raise ones voice at a spouse or child is when the other persons best interests are the motivation.
We have all been the victim of [at least subtle] abuse in our lives [be it by parents, teachers, siblings, spouses, bosses etc.]. Not the end of the world. But we have to make sure not to inflict abuse on others.
