Crazy And Getting Crazier

Over the years I have written a lot about the importance of tzdaka and uprooting the horrible disease people have called אהבת ממון - "Love of - and infatuation with - money" which some of the sfarim hakdoshim and tzadikim say is man's greatest תאווה. "Shreklich". An obsession with the dollar. A willingness to do almost anything and everything to get more and then to hoard millions and millions one's bank account while others, brothers and sisters [sometimes literally] don't have money for the basics.

A scandal.

To be honest - I am not sure that my words affect anybody in any practical way. Blog, shmog, tzdaka, shdaka - people love their money more than they care about some quotes from old rabbis who aren't old anymore because they already passed away. The Talmud Yerushalmi says that the Beis Hamikdash WAS DESTROYED BECAUSE PEOPLE LOVED THEIR MONEY TOO MUCH.

Nu-nu, people, sadly, love their money more than they miss the Beis Hamikdash. Fact.

However - I will keep trying and if even one person is awakened to be more generous it will have been worth my efforts. And hopefully the day will come when I have money of my own and I will be able to put into practice what I preach.

Once one decides to give [and Baruch Hashem everybody gives - מי כעמך ישראל] the question arises: Where to give? Yeshivos? Shuls? Poor families? Widows? Talmidei Chachomim? Hospitals? So many worthy causes.

Here is a news item that BLEW ME OUTTA THE WATER!!

There was an act of vandalism perpetrated against a church here is Eretz Yisrael done by Jews [they wrote והאלילים כרות יכרתון]. A well known Rosh Yeshiva of a Hesder Yeshiva publicly encouraged people to DONATE MONEY to renovate this CHURCH - רחמנא לצלן. A Beis Avoda Zara. [אנא תחסכו לי בלבולי מח ופלפולים אם זה עבודה זרה ממש - זה טמא טמא טמא]

I lost it. Not my money or mind Baruch Hashem, but respect for this man.

CRAAAAAAZZZZYYYYY!!!

Not him - but his idea. Donate money to a church. You are writing a check to the local yeshiva and your wife says - "Don't give the yeshiva. Rabbi X says to give the money to the church"!!!

This world is getting crazier every day. Soon two men are going to get married in a church paid for by a rabbi and his talmidim and the ceremony will be performed by one of the many "Orthodox" women rabbis.

Whatta a world.

In the words of the old Lubavitchers "Ve vant Moshiach now" - if only to save us from all this craziness.

PS - Here is what Rav Kook - the ideological father of yeshivot hedser - thought about X-tianity.
