Something I Struggle With

..... When Jewish weddings [known as "Yiddishe Chasunas"] turn into discotheques. The ear shattering music, the powerful jungle beats, heavy duty electric guitar, flashing lights etc. etc.

On one hand, this is very far from traditional Jewish music.

On the other hand, I see how fun people are having. How can I not rejoice when my fellow Jews are having a good time?? People have SOOOOO many tzaros, let them let their hair down from time to time and dance to the heavy beats. There is a mechitza, so it is a kosher substitute for what the goyim do.

The gemara says Hashem forbade certain food from being consumed but there are kosher foods that He allowed us to eat as a substitute. So maybe this is our kosher substitute for our raw desire to "party hardy". Add a little alcohol [for non-drivers] and the חוויה is complete. And all in the context of a mitzvah of gladdening the Chosson and Kallah. Also, the chosson and kallah seem to enjoy it and isn't that the purpose?

On the other hand, this seems to be part of our subconscious, unwitting, assimilation into general culture.

So I DON'T KNOW!!! What does Hashem want??
