Making Leitzanus From Rabbeim

In the Yated Ne'eman a number of years ago, a famous Mashgiach in Eretz Yisrael was asked how the custom to make fun of the Rabbeim in Yeshiva on Purim, squares with the teaching of Chazal that מורא רבך כמורא שמים. [Not to mention מלבין פני חברו ברבים and a host of other possible איסורים].

He answered

"ישנם חילוקי דעות בעניין זה, לכל צד יש נימוקים אמיתיים לשיטתו אך ממש אין כאן המקום להאריך בזה".

Wow - talk about an evasive non-answer! He could have just come straight and said "It is אסור אסור אסור and we must put a stop to it". But he instead declined that option and went with the ol' "I can't talk about that".

Why?

Rav Ovadiah Yosef once came out and said publicly that Ashkenazi Yeshiva Bochrim [Sefardim have a lot more kavod for their Rabbeim] who make fun of their Rabbeim are going to the "hot place".
