Bringing Down The Chesed!

This is copied, plagiarized and taken without permission from my email.

“It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving, caring human being.”

SHALOMMMM SWEEEETEST FRIENDS!!!!

Been like - forever, since my weekly Divrei Torah!!! They were written "B.C." - Before Corona. A different period in history. THRILLED to reconnect!!! Physical distancing? YES! Emotional distancing? NEVER!!

If you would like to receive emails containing Divrei Torah on the Parsha in the coming year then please reply "subscribe". [I am not raising money for any organization so this is not a solicitation for any worthy - or unworthy - causes. I am gainfully unemployed/retired/full-time-quarantined-B"H.] The goal is to try to share a bit of chizzuk and maybe a new thought. Not subscribing does not constitute any type of offense. So whatever works for you. If you are not interested , reply "not in a million years - BUSTER!!" or don't reply at all. I will GET THE HINT!!!

A Rosh Hashana thought: We all want blessing in the New Year. So why does our Rosh Hashana liturgy contain primarily a declaration of Hashem's rulership over the world and painfully little about us and our needs? "AVINU MALKEINU - LET ME OUT OF MY HOUSE. I AM GOING CRAZZZZZYY" would be a good start!!

The psukim say in Psalms [known in Boro Park as "Tehillim"]:

מַה־יָּקָ֥ר חַסְדְּךָ֗ אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים וּבְנֵ֥י אָדָ֑ם בְּצֵ֥ל כְּ֜נָפֶ֗יךָ יֶֽחֱסָיֽוּן: יִרְוְיֻן מִדֶּ֣שֶׁן בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ וְנַ֖חַל עֲדָנֶ֣יךָ תַשְׁקֵֽם:

"How precious is Your kindness, O God, and the sons of man will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They will be sated from the fat of Your house [unless you are on a diet], and with the stream of Your delights You give them to drink."

Who is worthy of receiving the kindness and chesed of Hashem? Says the pasuk – Those who take refuge in Hashem. Those who know who is Boss. [Rashi]

As the Maharal says: The job of a King is to take care of his citizens. So if we crown Hashem as King, we become worthy of being the beneficiaries of His kindness.

That is why [among other reasons] it is so critical to declare Hashem King in Rosh Hashana. It makes us worthy of receiving His bounty [which is what He wants].

In addition - The world was created for chesed and with chesed. עולם חסד יבנה. When we are conduits of chesed we make ourselves worthy of being in the world and make the world worthy of its existence.

So our job before RH and throughout the ten days of teshuva is recognize the King and to transform ourselves into beings of loving kindness. In this way we will hopefully merit to transform the very strict judgment the world has been suffering from this past year into pure unadulterated chesed!

May we merit to do so and have the BEST year ever!!

With much love and endless blessings
