The State Of The Union

Imagine a family living under one roof.

While the mother is frum the father is not [he actually doesn't even LIKE religious people but when they got married he himself was religious. Getting divorced would be much too inconvenient for him. Not an option]. She keeps Shabbos, Kashrus, Taharas Hamishpacha [especially convenient and simple when married to to someone who doesn't keep the laws] - the whole nine yards [or "ten yards" so at least you get a first down]. He keeps nothing [but he does fast on Yom Kippur and also roots for Israel and other Jewish athletes in the Olympics].

They have four children. Dror - he is a nineteen year old with long hair, tattooes, a girlfriend from Tel Aviv [named ... "ים" and ... you get the picture. Yossi - a seventeen year old Yeshiva Bachur who learns in Brisk and while he speaks Ivrit much prefers Yiddish. He doesn't rely on the local Eiruv... Chagit - 15 and a half, sort of traditional, keeps some mitzvos, doesn't keep others. Like - not going to the beach on Shabbos is too much for her. Then there is Moriah - fourteen, learns in an Ulpana for religious Zionist girls, wears loooonnggg flowing skirts and dreams of living somewhere in the Shomron, married to a graduate of Mercaz Harav who has a long beard, peyos and is a shepherd by profession and to have at least 12 children.

Imagine what it looks like at the meal table when they discuss issues. Imagine them having to get along together on Shabbos, in the kitchen etc. etc.

WELCOME to the State Of Israel 2025/5785.
