There is a machlokes between the Ramban and Ibn Ezra as to the meaning of the words at the begining of Parshas Beshalach "וה' הולך לפניהם יומם".
As the Rambam writes:
והאמת שהוא כדרך מוליך לימין משה, אבל לא כאשר יבין ר״א ממנו, וכתיב כן נהגת עמך לעשות לך שם תפארת.
