At the beginning of the Parsha it says ויהי בשלח פרעה את העם - When Paroh sent the NATION.
Herein lies the problem. "Nation"? We are just a plain ol' nation?? If after all of the miracles that he saw, Paroh doesn't understand that we are not just any plain nation but that the only way to Hashem is through His chosen people then he hasn't gotten the point. That is why the miracle of Kriyas Yam Suf is necessary. The Egyptians [and us] have to believe that we are the conduit to Hashem and not just a conglomeration of people who have a lot of start ups and are good at making money.
On the yomim noraim we pray that one day ויאמר כל אשר נשמה באפו ה' אלקי ישראל מלך - Everyone will say that Hashem the G-d of ISRAEL is king. Not just any G-d but the G-d of Israel. [Based on the Mei Marom]
Not to get political - this is an apolitical organization [sponsored by Budweiser and Kedem. "For Kiddush and purim - there is nothing like Kedem grape juice and Budweiser beer"]. But when listening to Mike Pence speak at the Knesset - and say a great "I'll prove to you I'm not Jewish, She-hek-ee-yanu" [we can make fun of him but imagine speaking in Chinese to Chinese people. Who would be laughing then?] - it was clear that he appreciated that we are not just any "nation" but a very special one.
May we always appreciate how special we are as a nation and that the path to Hashem is to through Am Yisrael. That is an honor and a big responsibility. May we be zocheh to be worthy!!!
