I read an obituary about a Jew ["worth" over a billion dollars] who died suddenly at a young age [late 40's]. It described how special he was. A story to illustrate:
He was a Vikings fan. Once, the Vikings were playing and the other team got off to a strong start and the Vikings found themselves behind early. But he kept rooting for his team. Things didn't get any better as the game progressed but he continued rooting for his team until the very end - when they lost.
WOW!!! The person [a non-jew with limited השגות - to say the least] describing this said that he was AWE-INSPIRED by the sight. Like - he stopped watching the game and just focused on his friend who never stopped cheering for his team.
Zchuso yagein aleinu!!!
He is now in shomayim receiving his eternal reward for his unyielding loyalty to his team.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I will laugh so that I don't have to cry.
To be fair - I am SURE that he had many good qualities and did many mitzvos in his life and hope that he is in the category of כל ישראל יש להם חלק לעולם הבא!!
But of all teams - why the VIKINGS?? [No offense Viking fans. Zchus Fran Tarkenton yagein aleinu!!!]
