The Rambam in the Sefer Hamitzvos [3] writes that the Mitzva of loving Hashem includes the obligation to inspire others to love Him:
When people dressed in religious garb act like wild animals, do they inspire others to love Hashem? The opposite. So they are being מבטל a מצות עשה מן התורה.
They are also מחלל שם שמים for which there is no atonement in this world. It is worse in a way than all of the other sins.
The pasuk says דרכיה דרכי נעם וכל נתיבותיה שלום - The ways of the Torah are peace and pleasantness. The opposite is not Torah.
Rabbeinu Yonah writes that in every one of our movements it should be apparent that we are serving Hashem. This is obviously the opposite of violence [unless necessary for self-defense].
The Mishna in Avos exhorts us to be the students of Aharon HaKohen - loving and pursuing peace, loving people and bringing them close to Torah. Acting like a wild animal is obviously the diametrical opposite of this ideal.
Why are all the perpetrators of the present violence men and not women? If it is a Mitzva then women should ALSO get involved??!!
The answer is that it is not a Mitzva. Male nature is often to be violent. The vast majority of those who commit violent crimes are male and not female. We must be cognizant of this. That is why it is men who are involved in all this violence.
The pasuk [איוב י"א י"ב] says ועיר פרא אדם יולד - Man is born a wild animal. The Alter of Kelm: From the עיר פרא - the wild animal, אדם יולד - we must generate a human being.
If you work on yourself this can be done. If a person just follows his innate nature - it could get dangerous.
So make no mistake abt. it. These people are like many [not all!!] "Modern Orthodox" Jews who pick and choose. They ALSO pick and choose. They are careful about eating Kosher and wearing Tefillin and lax about fulfilling the Mitzva of loving Hashem and cause חילולי השם on a global scale.
Others are lax in the Mitzva of guarding their own and other's health. Is this a Mitzva? The opposite and they will have to give דין וחשבון.
