I went to a shiva [back in the days when we had normal shivas. Remember that? B.C. - Before Corona]. On the last day, the rabbi [very well known and well regarded in certain circles] approaches the widow, takes her hand in his [I saw her face registering surprise - like, isn't he an Orthodox rabbi?], starts caressing it and makes up some prayer.
Then he goes to her daughter and does the same.
It wasn't like they seemed especially distraught that holding their hand was life-saving. They seemed fine and it looked like this is his set practice. Maybe he endears himself to his congregants this way and keeps his extremely well paying job - but not so kosher.
