People are inundated with Tzdaka requests. It doesn't end. This is understandable. They are many needy people and good causes out there and the money we have was given to us by Hashem in order to share with others. פשיטא.
On the other hand - how often to people receive an email, text or phone call: "Hi, I wanted to know how things are with you in general and financially. If you need help in any way I am here for you". Especially before a Yuntiv or when the person is making a simcha or when it is known that he is out of work.
If you know people who make such phone calls [to anyone but their own children] then please tell me who they are. Not b/c I want to shnor money from them for a worthy cause [although that is an idea...] but b/c I want to give them a kvittel with a pidyon [meaning $ you give to a Tzadik] that they should give me a bracha and daven for me b/c they are of the Tzadikei HaDor.
The feeling people might get is that they are just here when others need them but their own needs are not being fulfilled or noticed. This is NOT the way it is supposed to be. Not in Klal Yisroel.
