There is so much to say about today's Atzeres in Yerushalayim but I debate whether there is תועלת in writing about it. It might just annoy people when they hear opinions different from there and I have no agenda to just annoy people for no reason [unless I am REALLY bored. That is a different story].
But this I will say.
Today was a tribute to the greatness of מדינת ישראל.
Why?
Well, it was a gathering which proclaimed to the government that we don't care about you and your laws when they conflict with our religious beliefs and we are going to show how united we are. And they were not hindered in any way. All of traffic stopped and their point was made.
WOW!
Try that in China!
Try that in Russia!
Try that in a LOT of countries. It would not go. The military would come in and heads would roll!!!
But not in our beautiful country. No military. No rolling heads [or Rolling Stones. Not even their music]. Complete freedom of speech!! G-d bless the first amendment of the American constitution that we keep here too!!! Freedom of religion and freedom of speech!!!
Remember - this freedom is a new development for us Jews. We didn't have it in Russia and Poland etc. etc. for generations. But today in both the US and Israel we have it.
