A funny irony I was thinking about the other day.
When Rabbi Dr. Nachum Lamm Shlita was a young bachur, he learned in Torah Vo-daas in Brooklyn. He became interested in attending YU which his Rabbeim did not see in a positive light. One of his Rabbeim even cynically compared YU to a church [prompting me to suggest that they change the name of their website to churchtorah.org]. He was so convinced by their criticism that he was delighted when he was there and heard one boy say to another "Shalom Aleichem". He thought how wonderful it is that people speak to each other in such Jewish terminology even there. Like, it was a surprise that they would speak "Jewish" over there.
The irony is that the grandson of the former "Archbishop" of YU presently serves as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Torah Vo-daas. ["Reb Baruch Ber brengt from Reb Chaim Mi-macht nicht ken umdonas in Kiddushin"!!!! Love the shprach. So unchurchlike😀]
HAAAAA!!!!!😂😂
