1. "אבא של כולם": הכינוי "בבא סאלי" פירושו בערבית מרוקאית: "האבא שמתפלל". לא רב, לא מנהיג, אלא אבא. כזה שדלתו פתוחה, אוזנו קשבת, ותפילתו עבורך היא כלי העבודה העיקרי שלו.
2. מנהיג בגיל 18: היה לו ייחוס משפחתי מפואר כצאצא של רבנים ומקובלים, אבל הוא לא נח על זרי הדפנה. כבר בגיל שמונה עשרה, כשרבים מבני גילו עדיין מחפשים את דרכם, הוא מונה לראש ישיבה בריסאני שבמרוקו והפך לאבא רוחני של קהילה שלמה כשהוא עצמו כמעט ילד.
3. המלחמה בשינה: כדי להתמיד בלימוד שהגיע לעיתים לשמונה עשרה שעות ברצף, הוא המציא שיטה משלו: בחורף ישן בלי שמיכה – כדי שהקור יעיר אותו ובקיץ עם שמיכה כך שהחום לא ייתן לו מנוח. היגיון הפוך, נחישות של ברזל.
4. כאב שמזכך: בגיל צעיר התייתם מאביו. אשתו הראשונה נפטרה בעת לידת ביתם, וגם התינוקת לא שרדה. הוא התחתן שוב, אך במשך עשור לא היו לזוג ילדים. אחיו הגדול, רבי דוד, נרצח על ידי השלטון המרוקאי. שנים אחר כך, אחיו הקטן והאהוב ביקר אצלו, ונהרג בתאונת דרכים קטלנית בדרכו הביתה. שמונה מילדיו נפטרו עוד בחייו.
5. עיניים של ילד: בחנוכה ביקש שיחלקו לילדים דמי חנוכה במטבעות נוצצים, לא בשטרות. למה? "ילד מתלהב הרבה יותר ממטבע נוצץ". זו הייתה גדלותו – לראות את העולם דרך עיניים של ילד, ולהבין שהלב הקטן מתרגש מדברים שמבוגרים כבר שכחו.
6. חיים של פרישות: במשך חמישים שנה נמנע מאכילת בשר והדיר את עצמו מהנאות העולם. רק בסוף ימיו, כשהכוח רפה, נאלץ להתיר את נדרו מטעמי בריאות. הוא ויתר על הסגפנות כדי שיהיו לו עוד ימים לסייע לאחרים.
7. צניעות בלי מצלמות: בעידן שבו הכול מתועד ומפורסם, הוא הקפיד שלא להעביר שיעורים בפרהסיה ולא להבליט את עצמו. הכוח האמיתי, האמין, נמצא בעבודה השקטה – רחוק מזרקורים, בין האדם לאלוקיו.
8. שלוש פעמים עד הבית: אהבת ארץ ישראל בערה בו. שלוש פעמים הגיע לארץ, למד בישיבות "בית אל" ו"פורת יוסף" בירושלים, אך בשליחות רבו חזר למרוקו כדי להמשיך שם בפעילותו הרוחנית. עד שלבסוף עלה והשתקע בנתיבות, והעיר הקטנה הפכה לכתובת שאליה פונים אלפים.
9. הכול לאחרים: הוא לא החזיק כסף מעולם. כל מה שקיבל מהמוני המבקרים – חילק מיד. לעניים, לנזקקים, לכל מי שצריך. הוא ראה עצמו כצינור, וכשמגיע כסף יש רק משימה אחת: להעביר אותו למי שצריך.
10. אבא שלא עוזב: רבע מיליון איש מגיעים מדי שנה לקברו בנתיבות. באים לספר לו, לבקש ממנו, להרגיש שיש מישהו שמבין. כי גם אחרי ארבעים ושתיים שנה – הוא עדיין האבא של כולם.

2. Leader at 18: He had a glorious family lineage as a descendant of rabbis and kabbalists, but he did not rest on his laurels. Already at the age of eighteen, when many of his peers were still searching for their way, he was appointed head of a yeshiva in Rissani, Morocco, and became a spiritual father to an entire community when he himself was almost a child.
3. The War on Sleep: To persist in learning that sometimes reached eighteen hours in a row, he invented his own method: in winter he slept without a blanket - so that the cold would wake him up, and in summer with a blanket so that the heat would not give him rest. Reverse logic, iron determination.
4. Pain that Refines: At a young age, he was orphaned by his father. His first wife died during the birth of their daughter, and the baby did not survive either. He remarried, but for a decade the couple had no children. His older brother, Rabbi David, was murdered by the Moroccan government. Years later, his younger and beloved brother visited him and was killed in a fatal car accident on his way home. Eight of his children died during his lifetime.
5. Eyes of a Child: On Hanukkah, he asked that the children be given Hanukkah money in shiny coins, not in bills. Why? "A child is much more excited by a shiny coin." That was his greatness - to see the world through the eyes of a child, and to understand that the little heart is moved by things that adults have already forgotten.
6. A Life of Asceticism: For fifty years he refrained from eating meat and distanced himself from the pleasures of the world. Only at the end of his days, when his strength waned, was he forced to release his vow for health reasons. He gave up asceticism so that he would have more days to help others.
7. Modesty Without Cameras: In an age where everything is documented and publicized, he was careful not to give lessons in public and not to highlight himself. The real power, he believed, lies in the quiet work - far from the spotlights, between man and his God.
8. Three Times to the Homeland: The love of the Land of Israel burned within him. Three times he came to Israel, studied at the "Beit El" and "Porat Yosef" yeshivas in Jerusalem, but on the charge of his rabbi he returned to Morocco to continue his spiritual activity there. Until he finally immigrated and settled in Netivot, and the small town became an address to which thousands turn.
9. Everything for Others: He never held money. Everything he received from the throngs of visitors - he immediately distributed. To the poor, to the needy, to anyone who needs it. He saw himself as a channel, and when money arrives there is only one task: to transfer it to those who need it.
10. A Father Who Doesn't Leave: A quarter of a million people come to his grave in Netivot every year. They come to tell him, to ask him, to feel that there is someone who understands. Because even after forty-two years - he is still the father of everyone.
