Thought For Chukas

We all know that every word in the Torah has an eternal lesson for us [Torah comes from the word Horaah - teaching]. What is the Torah teaching us when it says that the well in the desert went "Umibamos Hagai" - from the heights to the valleys... Why is this important for us to know?

The Sfas Emes said as follows [1883] - This is teaching that the greater one becomes ["the heights"] the more humble one must become ["the valleys"]. The greatest man of all time was Moshe Rabbeinu and he was also the most humble. The closer he became to Hashem, the more elevated he became in prophecy, the more humble he became. If one gets rich or popular or is very smart or good looking - everything should make a person more humble because he realizes where all of his success originates, from the Source of all Baruch Hu Ubaruch Shimo!

That may be the lesson of the Parah Aduma - A PERFECT UNBLEMISHED COMPLETELY RED HEIFER, and what do we do with it? Burn it! And that is what makes a person pure after we sprinkle upon him the ashes.

A SWEET ELEVATING SHABBOS!:)
