I am not following the case but I was told that Kobi Bryant's parents sold some of his high school paraphanelia and made a pretty penny. He was incensed and sued them. An agreement was then reached and his parents apologized. Those who want to learn this "sugya bi-iyun" mistama will find more info on ESPN.COM although I don't recommend you go there for various reason. For our purposes - a thought.
I am not justifying the parents. It could also be that according to halacha he had every right to sue. It is even more likely that he is not bound by halacha. But I will say this [if he reads the blog]: "Kobi-le, Kobi-le, they are your parents. If not for them you would never have made it into the NBA. If not for them you would not be rich. If not for them you would not be famous. If not for them you would not ....... be."
For all of us who are fortunate enough to have parents, remembering that they are responsible for our very existence can calm us in a time of fury.
