Making theological errors, falsely ascribing to Hashem human traits and qualities etc. is very harmful. Nevertheless, the primary damage is not the beliefs themselves but the ACTIONS that stem from these false beliefs. But as long as the beliefs remain in the abstract, there is no uprooting of something primary.
This approach brings us close to the opinion of the Ra'avad who disagreed with the Rambam who called a person a min if he ascribes corporeality [physical properties] to Hashem. The Ra'avad's opinion can be explained to be saying that as long as one just BELIEVES but his beliefs are not actualized in deed, he remains part of the Jewish people.

ובזה הננו קרובים לסברת הראב"ד, שהשיג על הרמב"ם במה שקרא למי שמאמין ההגשמה באלהות - מין, ונוכל להסכים שכל זמן שאדם המגשם לא יעשה לו פסל ותמונה, הרי לא גמר את מחשבתו, ונשארה היא עדיין בחוג הרוח, שלא תוכל להיות נכללת בשם עקירה ויציאה מן הדת.
