To all of my SWEEEETEST friends in Woodmere and it's surrounding 4 towns - your spirited singing of ולירושלים עירך was very inspiring and uplifting. I appreciate that not everybody can come and live in Yerushalayim. But remember - it is only a PLANE RIDE AWAY!! 12 comfortable hours in a plush cushioned seat, two meals, extra food you brought along, various contraptions to keep you entertained, some reading, learning and davening, a shluf - AND YOU ARE HERE!!!
You can come to visit for chagim [maybe instead of Miami or Arizona] and even consider living here and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars on tuition!! Many people in Israel are "doing very well" [euphemism for "earning heavy money"]. American doesn't have a monopoly on affluence. Go to Raanana or Herzlia or Savyon [or the nascent Ramat Givat Zeev that I can see from my window] and see for yourselves.
Again - not for everybody [at this time]. But at least have a השתוקקות. Woodmere is GALUS. A comfortable, Jew-friendly-kosher-food-galore-shuls-mikvaos-Jewish-schools-wherever-you-go-galus, but a galus nonetheless.
