I read a blog written by a person who related that he davened in an "Orthodox shul" in Rechavia that has a male rabbi presiding together with a female "rabbi".
The writer felt that this was WONDERFUL. What I found surprising was his claim that such a practice was part of our "mesorah". How can something that hasn't been done by halachically observant Jews in the 3,300 years since the giving of the Torah be called part of our "mesorah". "Mesorah" means tradition. If it has never been done it cannot be called part of our tradition. But he writes that it IS part of our tradition. I didn't understand!!!
Then I got it. It is Adar and he has been drinking. How can we hold people responsible for what they say when drunk!!!
I also read "learned halachic" article written by two rabbis "proving" that there are no halachic problems with women rabbis. Their reasoning and arguments may or may not be accurate [there is a lot to argue with but not for now]. But the authors are missing a critical point: Fourth tier rabbis [or lower] should not be making decisions that will impact all of the Jewish people. Basic levels of humility dictate that such decisions be left to giants of Torah and Yiras Shomayim.
The good news is that the male rabbi is stepping down and they are looking for a replacement. This means that I can apply for the job and SO CAN MY WIFE. Maybe instead of one male and one female they will have two female. After all these years of "discrimination" it is only fair....
