I too was an unsuccessful, unremarkable, forgettable high school ballplayer. When I was sixteen I was about 5' 2 or so. Then I had a huge growth spurt and grew to about 5' 8. And look at me now! I stand at about 5' 10 and a half, 128 pounds [after a huuuuge dinner, with shoes on and pockets filled with coins]. I haven't really played ball in decades. I never played in college. The closest I ever got to the NBA was when somebody gave me 2 $150 tickets to a Knicks game at the Garden. And I think that sports are merely a pleasant diversion for a few minutes before we get back to real life and the reason we live. But in general - people take it faaaaaar tooooo seriously.
