The Apple

Sometimes I post in Hebrew but I am not convinced that everyone understands [and I can actually see how many people came to each post and those have lower numbers. If anyone wants to be mezake the rabbim and translate that would be great. I can't b/c I don't know Hebrew]. So I am copying a passage from a recent post with some English translation:

In one of the modern yeshivos in Eretz Yisrael the Rosh Yeshiva decided: I am prepared to accept a student who goes to bars, who steals, who lies, who goes with girls from escort services [!!!]. I am prepared. I will deal with it. But I have but one condition. That he promises that he doesn't have the apple [smartphone]. That is the only thing that I ask. B/c when he has the apple, I don't have the material to work with him. I lost before I started. He will hear me, be convinced and one moment later run to the most difficult drug that is right opposite him.

I can say personally that I was indescribably frustrated trying to teach boys with phones. They just weren't present.

A פלא נורא that any Torah institution allows this. Destructive to EVERYTHING they are trying to convey.
