The holy books teach that all of our drives must be channeled towards kedushah and not eliminated.
People like reading and hears "news". "Hey, what's new?" "Did you hear what happened?"
Romance - a "new" relationship. Until it gets stale. A "new" baby. Why aren't people as excited about their 15 year olds? A "new" job. Going to visit an exotic country. "New" experiences. Ad infinitum. [The mevakesh goes latin!!:)]
A Jew should try to feel the "chiddush" in EVERY SECOND OF LIFE. We are not alive now because we were alive a second ago. We are alive now because Hashem is renewing our contract to live every second.
We should also look for what is "new" in ruchniyus. A "new" sefer on Chumash. A "new" kashya of the Minchas Chinuch. A "new" kashya on a terutz of the Minchas Chinuch. A "new" hergesh [feeling] in tefilla. A "new" niggun.
The yetzer hara, teaches the Gemara, is renewed every day. The only way to fight it is to reJEWvenate ourselves.
So - what's new?
Love and blessings and may all of my sweet friends experience may'ain olam haba this Shabbos!!:)
